This year has been a great refresher so far and I really value the Te Reo Professional Development we are doing. Marion has modeled some great Te Reo lessons which you feel you can always follow on from and given us good tips during meetings. One in particular is BACON don't teach - animals, and as soon I heard this I knew I was guilty of this!! I am understanding more that the context needs to be more meaningful to the students. Linking into the topics and just everyday classroom language seems to be more beneficial than just stand alone Te Reo lessons. Making an effort to link in Te Reo to topics is my next challenge. I have done it for some topics/inquiry but not in depth.
